According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, among the member states of EUROCONTROL, Georgia occupies a leading position in terms of the dynamics of the restoration of air traffic. The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation has released new data on flights in European airspace, according to which, as of November 4, 2021, the number of air traffic in Georgia has increased by 3% compared to the same period in 2019. The increase in the number of take-offs, compared to 20219, was observed in 4 countries, including the following countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Armenia and Georgia.
It is self-evident that these data will have a positive impact on the tourism sector, which will inevitably mean a significant contribution to the development of the economy.
Increasing the flow of passengers means a lot of incoming tourists and, therefore, from an economic point of view – increased capital. Therefore, the increase in take-offs is uniquely positive.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, responded to the published report: «This is the result of the work that our team is doing in active cooperation with the private sector, in order to increase the frequency of flights and bring back the airlines that operated before the pandemic to the Georgian aviation market and also introduce new ones. All of this has given us a result of which we are very proud, and this is also noted by international organizations, when they focus on the successful example of Georgia.»
According to the EUROCONTROL report, with the mentioned dynamics of flight resumption, Georgia is ahead of 37 member states, including Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey, etc.
